Additional security for OttoEditions, OttoSerials and the HARRASSOWITZ FTP directories:

In response to requests from our customers, HARRASSOWITZ has protected users´ sessions from unwanted interference by adding a "secure socket layer"(SSL) to both OttoEditions and OttoSerials. On the HARRASSOWITZ website you will notice an "SSL" checkbox in the OttoEditions and OttoSerials login areas. When the box is checked, you will be using a secure session, similar to that used by most banking sites. If your library is situated behind a firewall that blocks the port for HTTPS (port 443), you will either need to ask for that port to be unblocked or be sure that the SSL box is not checked. Otherwise there is no difference in the appearance of the user interfaces.

Similarly, the HARRASSOWITZ FTP site can optionally be protected through the use of the Secure FTP (SFTP) protocol. If you wish extra security for the electronic invoices and MARC 21 files that HARRASSOWITZ sends to you, please send a note to service@harrassowitz.de requesting that your FTP directory(ies) be converted to SFTP. Or you may request the change by completing the FTP Service Request Form. 

If your files are being captured automatically by your library system, please be sure that the system is prepared to use the SFTP protocol before converting any of your FTP directories to SFTP.
