News Release (February 2007) HARRASSOWITZ partners with OCLC to offer WorldCat Selection:OCLC and Cornell University Library staff have worked together to develop HARRASSOWITZ is pleased to contribute to WorldCat Selection and thereby help simplify and streamline the selection and acquisitions workflow for its library customers. HARRASSOWITZ is one of the first participants in the WorldCat Selection service, supplying OCLC with MARC 21 records that already include library and selector designations from HARRASSOWITZ's form selection program. OCLC loads these records along with records from other book vendors, and library selectors may then log into WorldCat Selection to look at notification items for their collection areas from multiple vendors. Selectors take actions on individual items, such as select, reject, forward to another selector, or defer. Finally, library acquisitions personnel download selected items into the local acquisitions system, in preparation for electronic ordering from the book vendor. WorldCat Selection allows selectors to view their online notification slips from multiple vendors through a single system, without having to visit each vendor's specialized system. Titles provided by HARRASSOWITZ each contain a link to OttoEditions with its full functionality. More details are available from OCLC WorldCat Selection.
