HARRASSOWITZ receives ISO 9001: 2008 certificate:
HARRASSOWITZ is pleased to announce that after the initial certification ISO 9001: 2000 in 2007 our company has been awarded the ISO 9001: 2008 certification in 2009. It covers the entire range of the HARRASSOWITZ professional activities involving the provision of scholarly books and periodicals to university and research libraries worldwide. The certification was the result of an intensive review conducted by the independent certification body of TÜV Süd München, one of the regional offices of the Technischer Überwachungsverein, which is responsible for evaluation quality management systems of German companies.
The audit report is dated December 16, 2009 and emphasizes the clear and comprehensive documentation of HARRASSOWITZ procedures as well as the efficiency of the workflows within the overall organization. It specifically mentions the effectiveness of internal communication and the high degree of motivation on part of the HARRASSOWITZ staff and their high level of performance. Moreover, HARRASSOWITZ receives top marks on its infrastructure and working environment.
ISO 9001: 2008 represents the most authoritative international model for evaluating the quality management of the working processes within a company. It judges productivity, workflows and performance in the provision of services offered, with an emphasis on quality controls, both currently administered and planned for the future.
"HARRASSOWITZ is pleased that its management processes have received ISO 9001: 2008 certification," notes Knut Dorn, Managing Partner and Director of Sales. "The high degree of customer satisfaction was considered an important factor in the evaluation that led to the certification. While the compliments of our library customers on our service and performance have always served as a tremendous encouragement to our company, it is rewarding to see our management system now certified according to the latest criteria of a highly regarded international standards agency, particularly since it was, among other functions, our management of electronic library resources that was under scrutiny and passed the marks with flying colors."
