Hannig's work is one of the notable productions of the active German book artists community. It is an hommage to the Word and to the phenomenon Language in general.
Part I is composed of 26 multilingual text parts in scripts of various languages, cultures and ages. The forms are chipped from elmwood and are printed on 16 x 28 cm leaves of handmade rough-edged paper in a hardcover of 30 x 40 cm. Signed and numbered 1 through 88. ISBN 978-3-929551-80-2.
Part II covers 18 single leaves of wood prints (ash), 16 x 28 cm in blue, red, yellow/golden and black devoted to the six themes of Light, Air, Water, Earth, Fire, and Spirit, a graphic abstracted pictorial sequence done by Helmut Hannig.
Two original Chinese calligraphs of Wang Ning, each with a Haiku poem of Helmut Hannig, further including one page of the Gutenberg Bible (the beginning of the Gospel of St. John), printed in the workshop of the Gutenberg Museum and various motifs related to the elements inlaid in 24 karat gold or 1,000 / 1,000 silver, among them two original gilded gingko leaves for the motiv Erde and 4 poems by Helmut Hannig with photographs selected from his book "Nichts verliert die Erde".
Altogether 34 single leaves of handmade rough edged paper with inlaid transparent paper, 28.5 x 39.5 cm, ISBN 978-3-929551-81-0.
Part III is a separate sequence of 7 poems by Helmut Hannig entitled "Elementarer Zyklus", thematically related to the elements. This sequence is also available in French (EUR 160.00) and comes free of charge with any sales to institutions in the Francophone world.
Parts I and II contained in a wooden cassette, part III in a separate handpaper folder.
