Neidhart is one of the most significant and most successful minnesinger of Middle High German literature. This new analytical edition presents the lyrics as well as the melodies of all of the songs passed down in tradition under Neidhart's name. Published nearly 150 years after the first edition by Moriz Haupt (1858), this edition presents a wealth of new material and includes all of the so-called "pseudo Neidharts". Thus it goes way beyond the texts so far known from parchment and paper writings or documented through the early print editions. Divergent text editions are presented side by side to facilitate comparison. There are extensive apparatus and commentaries as well as a bibliography and a discography.
