Brill's New Pauly : Encyclopedia of the Ancient World is the English language edition of the world famous authoritative reference work Der Neue Pauly, published by Verlag J.B. Metzler between 1996 and 2002.

The first 15 volumes of the 20 volume set (Antiquity, 1-15) are devoted to Greco-Roman antiquity, with special emphasis on the interaction between Greco-Roman culture and Semitic, Celtic, Germanic, and Slavonic cultures and ancient Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

The remaining 5 volumes (Classical Tradition, I-V) are concerned with the long aftermath of antiquity and the continuous interpretation and re-evaluation of the ancient heritage.

The contributions of the English edition have been reviewed and upgraded, and so have the bibliographic references. So, Brill's New Pauly is not a mere translation of the German edition, but provides updated content and references in addition to the wider exposure that comes with the English language edition.
