HARRASSOWITZ E-book Services Includes De Gruyter e-dition Titles:
HARRASSOWITZ would like to remind customers that De Gruyter's e-dition titles are available for order directly through HARRASSOWITZ. De Gruyter e-dition is a unique "eBook on Demand" collection, where previously-published books are digitized at the time of order. Included are not only original De Gruyter titles but all imprints, such as Niemeyer, K.G. Saur, and B.G. Teubner, even if they were not part of De Gruyter when first published. Each title may be purchased as either an e-book or a hardcover reprint. Digitization takes a maximum of 10 weeks; however, if an "eBook on Demand" title has already been digitized for another customer, delivery is much faster. The new e-dition collection features over 60,000 high-quality titles in both English and German from the company's backlist, dating back to 1749.
Access to the e-dition titles is available through Reference Global, the De Gruyter platform for e-books, e-journals and databases, and is controlled by IP address. De Gruyter offers perpetual access to purchased content, with no access fees. Content may be viewed by unlimited simultaneous users, with no time limit. Long-term archiving is available through Portico. COUNTER-compliant usage statistics delivered either as spreadsheets or via the SUSHI protocol, are available and MARC records can be supplied.
De Gruyter's e-books can be purchased individually as well as in annual subject, language and complete packages. Also available are "pick and choose" packages that customers can put together and customize based on their own preferences, and "best of" packages chosen by scholars renowned in their fields. (A complete list of available "best of" packages can be found in OttoSerials by keyword searching "Gruyter best" or at the De Gruyter's website.) For titles that are being purchased simultaneously in both print and electronic format – either as single titles or as packages – De Gruyter offers a bundled price.
As a global sales partner for De Gruyter e-dition, HARRASSOWITZ has loaded all the titles and made them available for order in OttoEditions, HARRASSOWITZ's online management system for monographs and music scores. The following enhanced functionality is provided:
- Each title has been linked to the corresponding print record, or, if no print record was available, a short print record has been created.
- E-book package information is included in the series field of the title record and can be used for duplication purposes or for retrieval of the individual titles of the package.
- Via the OpenURL feature in OttoEditions customers can link to their OPAC via ISBN to identify their holdings.
HARRASSOWITZ will continue to add new e-book titles and package details to OttoEditions as information is supplied by De Gruyter. Orders can be placed in OttoEditions, via EDI or by contacting service@harrassowitz.de. To apply for an OttoEditions account, please complete the New Online Account form or contact your regional sales manager or service@harrassowitz.de. OttoEditions is password-protected and is available to all registered HARRASSOWITZ customers.
For more information on De Gruyter's e-dition titles, package offers and pricing models, please contact service@harrassowitz.de or your regional sales manager.
Please also note that HARRASSOWITZ continues to load e-book title records from the German National Bibliography (the so-called "Reihe O") as well as e-books from other bibliographic sources.
