Release (August 2010)
|
New pricing and access terms for Wiley-Blackwell subscriptions in 2011:
Wiley-Blackwell has recently announced some changes to its pricing model.
For customers with online license deals the model remains essentially
the same as in previous years:
| |
- Multi-site and consortial access
- Price caps for multi-year agreements
- Post-cancellation access back to 1997 for core licensed titles
- "Swap and drop" allowances
- Subject or custom collections
- Print versions available at 15% of full rate list price
- COUNTER-compliant usage statistics
|
Wiley-Blackwell titles will also continue to be available on a title-by-title
basis, with the same features as the 2010 plan:
| |
- Single site access
- No concurrent user limit
- Post-cancellation access to paid-for content
- No restrictions on cancellations or new subscriptions
- COUNTER-compliant usage statistics
|
The print-plus-online option will now be priced at 115% of either the
print or the online version, which are priced the same.
There are also new rules regarding pricing, coverage and post-cancellation
access for title-by-title subscriptions:
| |
- Existing online title-by-title subscriptions will include access
to all content back to 1997 (if available). In the event of cancellation
or non-renewal, customers will retain access to only the years
that were paid for.
- Starting in 2011, all new online title-by-title subscriptions
(either entirely new subscriptions, or upgrades from print-only,
or changes from print-plus-online or conversions from an online
deal to title-by-title) will include access to the current year
and the preceding four years, on a rolling basis. Therefore a
2011 subscription will provide coverage from 2007 through 2011,
and a 2012 subscription will provide coverage from 2008 through
2012. In the event of cancellation or non-renewal, customers will
retain access to only the years that were paid for.
- Note that these rules do not apply to subscriptions under licensed
deals, which include access to all content back to 1997, with
post-cancellation access back to 1997 for core licensed titles
- Starting in 2011, 43 titles will be moved to e-only, and print
will no longer exist for these titles.
- For 27 titles a new, FTE based pricing scheme will be introduced
in 2011.

In addition to these changes, Wiley-Blackwell has also announced the
migration of its content from Wiley Interscience to Wiley Online Library,
which will deliver seamless integrated access to over 4 million articles
from 1500 journals, 9000 books, and hundreds of reference works, laboratory
protocols and databases from John Wiley & Sons and key imprints including
Wiley-Blackwell, Wiley-VCH and Jossey-Bass. This migration should take
place during August 2010. Complete information about the platform and
the conversion can be found at http://info.onlinelibrary.wiley.com.
