Wortbildung is the 3rd part of a comprehensive new grammar of Middle High German. It is the first study to process and present Middle High German word formation from the systematic foundation of a comprehensive structured corpus of Middle High German manuscripts (1070-1350). Thus the volume closes a gap between the research on Old High German word formation and the various studies of word formation in Early New High German. The presentation combines modern linguistic methods with traditional philological approaches and should be of use both to linguistics and medievalists from various disciplines.
"Mittelhochdeutsche Grammatik" is scheduled to consist of 4 parts and is expected to be finished by 2012. "Wortbildung" is the first volume to be published.
